Diploma in Hotel Management is not similar to a degree course. It ranges from one year to one and a half years. It doesn’t have the same value as of a degree course. The tenure of hotel management runs for one year of curriculum and twenty weeks of industrial training. One can go-ahead to pursue a diploma in hotel management after passing their 10th or 12th standard in school. Since it is a certification course one can also pursue their graduation by the side.
The curriculum offers specialization in various fields.
- Food Production
- Front Office Training
- Beverage service, and various other streams of a requirement to have a career in the hotel industry.
Apart from specialization various other soft skills like Personality development and Communication, Marketing, and Public Relations are also taught as an additional aspect to the Curriculum. After completion of the course, one can go on to pursue a job or go on to become an entrepreneur. The course cost ranges from Rs. 10,000 to 90,000 /- for various private college. And for government college, the course cost generally starts from Rs. 25, 000/-
There is no particular cut off or entrance examination to qualify for the diploma course. The diploma course is for one and a half year including industrial training and experience. Thus, once you pursue your diploma you are eligible to kick start your career. You can get a job in your desired field of work or set up your business after a former experience and exposure.
It is relatively a cheaper investment compared to a degree.
However, after completion of your diploma, you can only start as a beginner and you are qualified for an entry-level job. Gradually with your experience, you go on to become an expert in the industry. You have to pursue graduation by your side because the diploma course doesn’t serve as a graduate degree. The diploma course limits you to pursue a single stream of studies only it is the stream that you choose to pursue whereas in a degree course you are taught about all the fields and streams of the hotel industry.
