GATE scholarship or the AICTE PG Scholarship is the scholarship program offered by All India Council for Technical Education to all of the GATE/GPAT qualified students who are pursuing their master’s degree in Engineering/Technical/Architecture or Pharmacy. But under this scholarship scheme, the selected student is supposed to undertake 8 to 10 hrs of teaching and research work assigned by the Institute. Each student chosen can get up to Rs.12,400 per month. The application period changes from year to year. Even though it generally occurs in September and October. The students can apply online through the AICTE portal.
The AICTE Scholarship is given to all of the eligible students who wish to pursue their higher education. And so they get a monthly scholarship for 24 months or from the duration of the course and are not extended under any circumstances.
Now, coming to the Eligibility Criteria :
The student must have a valid GATE/GPAT score. The student must be registered in a full-time course in any of the recognized institutes, and those who have logged for a part-time or distance education shall not be eligible for the scholarship.
The students who have taken admission into the approved program before or after the GATE/GPAT validity are not considered for the AICTE GATE scholarship. The students who have taken admission under the non-sponsored categories or management quotas will not be eligible for the scholarship.
The application process is simple. All you need to do it fill the application form through the official AICTE portal. You have to first register into the AICTE website where you will receive an email. Then you would need to log into the AICTE Portal and fill in the GATE Scholarship application form. You would be required to give in your Institute name as in where you are currently pursuing your Post Graduate degree. Then fill out all of the necessary details like name, roll number, date of birth, etc. and you will receive a student ID. Keep this student ID number safe as it is essential and acts as a reference.
You will need only a few essential documents near you while applying to this scholarship. You need your gate scorecard, copy of your bank passbook, caste certificate if the applicant belongs to SC/ST/OBC/PwD, copy of your Aadhaar card, Copy of National Population Register card (NPR) ( if available).
There are, however, a few terms and conditions that each student must complete to avail the scholarship:
The student selected must work for 8 to 10hrs per week as assigned by the Institute. The work includes tutorials, laboratory classes, development, and maintenance of laboratories or any other work.
The student must be a full-time worker. A part-time student or a distance education student cannot apply to this scholarship. The students must make sure that their name in the bank for bank account and their name in the scholarship are the same.
The student has to provide his caste certificate by those who belong to OBC/SC/ST, and if the caste certificate is any other language other than Hindi/English, it should be translated.
If the students are found to be indulged in any kind of misconduct, then it may lead to the cancellation of their scholarship.
Salary grants or any other grants will not be admissible, and those who are already availing the benefits of other scholarships shall not be eligible.
